Whispered LightWhen I was 13 years old, my parents gave me a camera for my birthday. It was a Kodak Instamatic and I loved it. I spent all my babysitting money buying film and mailing it off to be developed. There was nothing better than coming home from school to see that yellow package on the counter. I loved opening the envelope to relive the moments on those little 3x5 prints. At the same time, I had a great aunt that lived in Florida who would send me seashells from the beach. I never knew when those small boxes with tissue and paper towel wrapped treasures would come, but when they did, I could smell the ocean. The mailbox held some pretty great gifts for me during those years.
I am sure my parents never dreamed that when they gave me that little camera, I would spend the rest of my life peering through the viewfinder. But that is exactly what I have done. My camera and I have met hundreds of people that I would never have known otherwise. We have travelled, made art, helped people feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside, made people laugh, watched my three sons grow up and said goodbye to people that left this world a better place.
These notecards combine my love of photography and the special feeling of receiving something heartfelt in the mail. I hope you enjoy these cards as much as I have enjoyed making them.
